Stained GLass Class

STAINED GLASS CLASS with Jim Learn how to work with stained glass and make a colorful project. The class will teach you the basic skills to make a variety of items such as suncatchers, ornaments, small windows, etc. It’s a fun and challenging art form that can last a lifetime. Let’s get started! Maximum enrolment: 5 Students. First five paid enrollees will be sent an e-mail confirmation as well as additional class information, reference materials, and suggestions prior to attending the first class. A waiting list will be established for future classes or cancellations. The first class will cover stained glass basics, tools, and glass cutting. Patterns for a project like the one pictured will be available. All supplies as well as a limited selection of glass will be provided. Additional glass and bevels can also be purchased in limited quantities from Edom Art Emporium. The remaining classes will be devoted to making a completed glass project with individual and group instruction and assistance. TOOLS/SUPPLIES Basic beginners tools and supplies will be provided. These will include: glass cutting tools, grozing pliers, running pliers, solder, flux, soldering irons, copper foil, and lead came. NOTE: Supplies will be provided but it is highly recommended that you purchase a few basic tools prior to the class which can be used for all your projects in the future. A list/description will be sent to you as noted above. RULES Safety: No food or drinks. Closed toed shoes. Masks for grinding protection and eye goggles will be provided. Please arrive on time. Have fun! Please wear long pants and closed toed shoes.

mosaics with Troy Benthall – A Bistro Table project- Saturday june 11,2022: 9:00AM to 5:00Pm with a lunch break

Skill Level: Beginner

Join us for a fun filled day of creating either individually or as a two man team this beautiful 18″ bistro table. Once your project is completed, it will go home with you with two chairs, ready to use and enjoy in that perfect spot.  The center flower will be of your color choice between red (as you see here), yellow (my choice) or white. Please indicate your color preference when signing for the class. There is no age limit, however, children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. This workshop is limited to 4 individuals or 4 teams. Sign up is first-come-first-serve and no “at the door” registration will be available. Saturday july 2,2022 – basket for your strengths – 9:00am to 4:00pm with a lunch break with Art Therapist Dr. Julie Howard

Skill level: Not Required

Dr. Howard combines sculpting and weaving into a therapeutic experience for everyone. Join us for a workshop that is sure to show you all of your strengths and how they work hand-in-hand with your weaknesses to make you the unique individual that you are. Nonconformity is an asset.  You will work with culinary techniques to create a sculpting medium that will be cut and woven into a basket. This workshop is limited to a minimum of 4 individuals and a maximum of 8 individuals. Sign up is first-come-first-serve and “at the door” registration will be available. Saturday july 9,2022 – whimsical houses with debbi elmer –              9:00am to 1:00pm

Skill Level: Beginner

Students will become familiar with basic glass tools, cutting and assembly. Each student will complete a couple of small magnets and one 4″x6″ tile that will be kiln fired for students to pick up at a later date. Options for framing or display will be discussed. All glass and tools will be provided. Saturday july 16,2022 – home for your plant with troy benthall –              9:00am to 12:00pm

Skill Level: Beginner

Students will become familiar with Assiette Trencadis tradition also known as Pique while making a flower pot.  A type of mosaic made from shards of chinaware set in cement. Trancandis is a Catalan term that means “chopped” and is the name for the method made popular in  20th century Catalan Modernism by artists Anton Gaudi and Josep Maria Jujol. There is no age limit, however, children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. All supplies are provided unless you have a special plate, bowl, or cup you would like to use. First 10 paid enrollees will be sent an e-mail confirmation as well as additional class information, reference materials, and suggestions prior to attending the first class. Minimum 4/Maximum 10

Saturday july 21,2022 – painting chemistry with lyn chatman –              10:00am to 3:00pm LOOSEN-UP YOUR APPROACH TO PAINTING WITH ACRYLIC INKS 

Skill Level: some knowledge of mediums is helpful

Bring along your inner child for this fun class where you can abandon your adult self  and just play. Learn to expand your imagination and loosen up your paintings with the  use of acrylic inks, acrylic paint, stamps, and ink pad. Learn the difference between  acrylic inks, watercolor inks, and alcohol inks and why acrylic inks are used in this  workshop. Explore the concept of negative painting to build upon an image found in the  loose lines of ink runs. Create as many paintings as we have time for. All materials are provided EXCEPT for watercolor paper. Bring a small pad of 9×12  watercolor paper.

Saturday/Sunday july 30&31,2022 – A two day painting experience with Kalika Antao-9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Basic oil painting: This course is designed to help both beginning painters and students needing refresher in basics gain understanding in fundamentals of oil painting materials and techniques. First day morning – review basic principles, composition, color theory, perspective, color. mixing etc. Materials required, safety tips for oil painting followed by short demonstration.
All participants will be painting in the studio for the remainder of the workshop.
A supply/material list will be provided along with several reference photos to select from.
Participants may choose to paint from the same reference photo or each participant can choose an individual reference photo to paint from.  Participants can bring their own reference photos if they desire. Minimum 4/Maximum 10.  First 10 paid enrollees will be sent an e-mail confirmation as well as additional class information, supply list, reference materials, and suggestions prior to attending the first class.

Sunday August 7, 2022 – a sunday afternoon jewelry experience with resident artist martha boles- 1:30pm-5:30pm

Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Spend the day with Martha in this studio workshop in Renaissance/Baroque Styling and Jewelry Making. Basic knowledge of jewelry making is desired. A kit will be provided for each participant. This workshop is limited to a minimum of 4 individuals and a maximum of 8 individuals. Sign up is first-come-first-serve and “at the door” registration will be available.
